1. We use email or our board website for most of our business. Will accessibility or technological ability be a problem for you?
No, I believe my Mater’s Information Technology Concentration got me off to a good start.
2. Have you read and can you agree with the Bylaws as written? as well as our Board Member Responsibilities, Code of Ethics, and Job Descriptions?
Yes.
3. Why are you interested in serving on the board of Fairbanks Youth Advocates?
Many years ago I worked as a youth worker while working at Covenant House in Anchorage within the Rights to Passage program I truly enjoyed being a coach and mentor to the young people helping them out with life skills. I would once again like to be involved and help young people and this time within my Fairbanks community.
4. What is your professional experience with leadership and/or your accomplishments in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector:
Well, I have worked at the university level for several years teaching, college recruiting, and as a enrollment services specialist. I have been a small business counsellor for many years working for the SBDC and SCORE. I am retired US Air Force where I spent 22 years developing my management & leadership skills.
5. Briefly outline your volunteer service for other organizations:
Once again, I have been a small business counselor working with small business start-ups and with those already in business offering my knowledge freely to all those in need. Financially, I aided several organizations that work to keep animals safe from cruelty. I have been a faculty advisor for several years while working with both the Associate Students of Business and the College Entrepreneurial Organization. I aided in the past with the project management of the Statewide Lemon Aid Day.
6. What are some specific skills and strengths that you can bring to the Board:
I believe my professional skills in management backed by my mater’s in business organizational management and to include my many years working within the academics as a teacher, recruiter, and student advisor could be of some service.
