Sarah has worked up a video to introduce us to the idea of what Project RunAway could look like. Just to clarify, Project Runway is reality t.v. show. Project RunAway would be our take on the idea. Enjoy and please comment.

This would be an awesome project once the shelter is open and we are serving a consistent number of clients who could participate. I’m not sure it’s feasible within this coming year, but definitely an idea for the future. I agree with other comments that it is not going to catch the eyes of donors (our current most important audience), but I think it is an awesome awareness-raiser and street-kid empowerment project to keep in mind for a later date.
It is a unique, &
entertaining approach, and I would bet ,with brainstorming, there would be someway to broaden the audience.
I think we should encourage the creativity that Sarah is showing but I don’t see this particular video having a positive impact on our mission. The shallowness of reality tv in general is not related to what we do. The wordplay is almost trite…..
The video is just for us – so we can understand the concept.
I am really impressed with the creativity and the attempt to connect with the audience we serve. However, I must agree with Patrick in that this concept may not be the best way to target our audience for fundraising. This may be something better used for entertainment as a part of a bigger fundraising event or as an avenue to build awareness for FYA. Barb, Sarah, Rilene and myself are meeting at Barnes & Noble at 5PM this Friday for a brainstorming session for our big February event if anyone would like to join.
I’m having a difficult time connecting this concept to a significant fund raising profile for the demographic that seems to be our potential donor base. It’s interesting and reaches towards a relative cultural aspect of homeless youth, i.e., fashion and dress in their context, but I think its ultimate fundraising reach would be limited for us. Is the draw to such and event for potential donors primarily entertainment? If so, I think we need to cast an appeal that is more broad.
It is definitely entertainment as well as awareness raising.
Very creative approach, but not sure how wide the audience would be.
I think the audience looks different than the demographics that our board represents. I would venture this audience to be primarily women, and mostly younger – U crowd, etc. and tickets would reflect that – 15.00 ? 20.00? This is definitely fashion show entertainment.
