- No accessing technology will not be a problem for me. I use a laptop at work and my iPad, iPhone at home.
- Yes I can agree with the Bylaws. I think they are amazing. Yes I have read and agree with the board member responsibilities, code of ethics, and job description.
- Why am I interested in serving on the board of F.Y.A? I have been interested in becoming more involved since I first heard About FYA. I have had two close family members who have lived on the streets of fairbanks in their teen/young adult years. This outreach is very needed in this town.
- Professional experience: Raised 4 amazing kids. Home schooled for 12 years, and ran a small business with my husband and kids for 12 year. I worked for FRA and ALPA with special needs young adults off and on for 15/20 years. I coordinated the reading program at Barnett. I worked at Chinook Charter school as a special ed aide for 3 year, working with k-8th. Now I’m at the end of my second year at Two Rivers, working with k-8th. I work with a team of three to tutor kids that need help in math and reading. I coordinate with all the teachers for intervention and scheduling. I’m also in charge of a lot of testing and data entry.
- Volunteer service: I grew up volunteering in and with my church. Taught Sunday school for many years. In my young adult and teen years I was a councilor at Bingle camp. While raising kids we did many things from missions to garbage pick up. We worked at the food bank once a week for a couple years. A few years ago I did a bible study with a friend at the rescue mission then worked the woman’s desk for the winter. Last summer I tutored two ladies in English at the literacy council. I have been on many fundraising walks, gone to and helped with many dinners and helped with many garage sales in this wonderful town.
- Some specific skills and strengths that I would bring to the board:
I work well with others. I love to exchange ideas. I am an encourager. I am great at being in charge of small projects and could work my way up to bigger ones. I am very reliable and punctual. I work well with dead lines. I believe in what you are doing and would like to help. - References

I have reviewed Tami’s application and it looks great. Melanie Wells responded to my inquiries. She has known Tami for 20 years and even employed her for two summers. She says Tami is a workhorse who is dedicated, practical and has common sense. I haven’t heard from the other reference yet.
