- Children’s Christmas tree: Marylee suggests that a board member volunteer to select an ornament and write Fairbanks Youth Advocates on it and take it to the Carol Brice Center prior to TUesday, Dec. 4. so we can participate in this community event. Would someone be willing to do that?
- Hello… my name is Karl Greer and I am the Director of The Carol H. Brice Family Center. Last year, we revived The Children’s Christmas Tree, which was a long-standing Fairbanks tradition, until it fell by the wayside, some time back. Here’s how it works:a Christmas tree is erected in front of City Hall and decorated by ornaments provided by various non-profits, one per agency. (Most were customized with the agency’s name.)There will be a tree lighting ceremony attended by local officials, and The Sweet Adelines will perform a few Christmas Carols. Last year we had a great turnout of families and folks from the participating agencies. To participate, just provide us with an ornament with your agency’s name on it. It can be “store-bought” or hand-made. The deadline for dropping off your ornament at The Carol H. Brice Family Center is Tuesday, December 4th. (OK, I’ll come get it if you call me, see below.) The event takes place at 4:30PM on Thursday, December 6th, on the steps in front of City Hall. If you just can’t get an ornament together, we hope you’ll come and participate anyway!
