I contacted 3 businesses in Fairbanks:1)FBKS Billing Services, 456-7767: charges 6-8%/revenue collected depending upon volume of claims per month. 2) Golden Heart Medical Billing, 459-8200: generally charges 10%/revenue collected. 3) Abaco Health Care Billing, 452-2255: not willing to quote for LPC claims, did not wish to take on these types of claims
There are no more Medical Billing business to call in the Fairbanks area.
Anchorage, Alaska: 1) Advantage Medical Billing, 907-522-4880: charges 8-10%/revenue collected 2) Alaska Professional Billing, 907-345-8200: charges 8-10%/revenue collected 3) Alaska Billing Services, 907-563-1777: only services “large facilities”, recommended me to contact Alaska Professional Billing – which I had already done.
The average charge for Medical Billing in Alaska is 8.5%/revenue collected.
2009 CMI:
Revenue = approximately $133,082.00
(I am not 100% regarding the income because I do not have access to “ClearWATER” account that we stopped using February of 2009 as it is at CMI office – so I estimated January and February income at $8,000 each month)
KLG charges = $8,967.75
% paid to KLG Billing for revenue received = 6.74%
2010 CMI
Revenue = $152,188.00
KLG charges = $8,167.50
% paid to KLG Billing for revenue received = 5.37%
KLG Billing Services average is 6.06% for the last 2 years.
I second both of Marylees suggestions, let’s proceed as necessary.
I think that can be taken as an all in favor, have said ” I “.
I will let Dave know and he can tell Kathie.
I make a motion to accept Kathie G’s proposed contract.
I also motion that this contract should be retroactive as of April 1, 2011.
Sounds like this is our best option! I agree that we should keep Kathie at the suggested rate.
I am in favor of keeping Kathie also and paying her under a different set of standards, as suggested, the % rate. If we did not hire her to do it, we would still have to hire someone else, pay that same price. . . .with less efficiency and tenacity!
All should know that since she first submitted this request nearly 2 months ago, she is asking that we make this contract good, as of April 1, 2011.
Yes I am in favor of keeping Kathie and a raise. As far as a May meeting date the 24th should be fine.
Dave, I think it makes sense to go with Kathie. Am I interpreting it correctly that the percentage charge is only for those fees that are collected, as opposed to all fees that are billed?
I know ive been getting a good deal with Kathie, and knew we were saving a fair amount of money with her. Originally she was hourly, and since then has been taking over the whole thing including doing much of the work at home, she also does payroll so she does come in and use the office as well. I have paid much more and got much less. Kathie is a hard worker and is very efficient and a real go getter on claims and clients paying, so though i never like to pay more, she is worth every penny.
The fees for KLG sound reasonable and in accord with statewide services of a similar nature. Dave, you have a history with Kathie and it’s your gig, what are your thoughts.
