Pass The Hat
August 12, 2014Without Love We Are Nothing
October 22, 2014We want thank again our sponsors, participants, and their supporters for making One Homeless Night such a special event! The count is still out, so we can’t say how much was raised, but, without a doubt, there is no question of your success… or our appreciation. It was incredible to see so many people gathered together to raise awareness and funds for the youth shelter. We were so thrilled to see the incredible “houses” built – from the Harvesters Ark to the Rogers’ Gingerbread House to the Yurt/Igloos.
We’re well aware that it takes incredible creativity and resilience for young people to survive on the streets. And while the experience of our OHN participants this month wasn’t a “typical” homeless experience for youth in Fairbanks – pulling together the options in front of you to be comfortable and safe at night is very like what young people experience on their own. We saw the heart of our participants displayed wide – so full of love. Thank you all!
So grateful to the judges from Design Alaska who came out to award participants for their hard work and creativity.
Grateful to Sentry Hardware and BLAKE for making things so ‘colorful’ with duct tape.
For Subway for feeding the crowd.
Grateful to Graphic North, Trademark, and FedexKinkos for helping with our printing needs.
Thank you to the Church of Latter-Day Saints for providing overnight security and letting us sleep safe.
And thank you to all of our outstanding volunteers who came out to help!
