I heard some sweet words today. No, not, “You’re fully funded,” though that would be sweet indeed – but today an FYA youth called, “Marylee, I just wanted to call and tell you I got the job!” “I got the job,” HEGOTTHEJOB!

Just as we each have jubilantly celebrated when we’ve heard those words from others – this young person was equally or maybe even more excited. His first job ever! Of course I responded, being the cheerleader that I am, with, “Yay for you! Congratulations – that must feel awesome! Have you patted yourself on the back yet?”

“I got a job” – those are sweet words indeed! Getting a first job marks a rite of passage and is certainly worth celebrating. But it might not have happened had he not had shelter.

Sleeping safe, dry and warm; having a place to wash up; clean clothes to put on, not to mention a cheering rally behind you – all worked together to support this youth today!

Yeah Team! We are so happy for him.
