My name is Heidi Bryan. I have been communicating via email with Sarah Finnell for a couple of months, about volunteering for the events committee. I just had lunch with her this afternoon and she mentioned that FYA is seeking potential board members. I’m trying to get involved with something in the community by volunteering and helping out anyway that I can. I have attached the application to this email. Below I have answered the questions on the application:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

1. I have full access to the internet, either at my office or on my smartphone. So I should not have any issues communicating with fellow board members.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. I have read and agree with all the bylaws, and also board member responsibilities, code of ethics, and job description.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. I have been interested in getting involved with a non-profit organization in the Fairbanks Community for awhile, however because of my school schedule I have been unable to do so. I just recently heard of The Door through a friend that works there. I believe what your organization is doing is extremely important.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

4. In spring of 2015 I was Co-Chair of the Business Leader of the Year event hosted by the School of Management at the University. I was in charge of 3 committees to make sure everything was running smoothly for this event. I have also led volunteers at the Arctic Innovation Competition, also sponsored by the School of Management. With both of these events, I had the opportunity to work on projects that fell outside of the committees, including running and keeping up with social media sites, flyering, making phone calls to sponsors or business’. Most of my experience comes from working at SOM during my college career.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

5. I do not have much volunteer experience outside of working on Business Leader of the Year in 2013 & 2014, both of those years I was on the Ticket Sales committee.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

6. I just graduated with my Bachelor’s in Business Administration concentrating in Marketing. I currently work as an admin and marketing assistant at a local architectural firm, Bettisworth North. I have helped a friend of mine with setting up her website for her local business. Website design and set-up is something I am very interested in learning more about. I also have a lot of experience with social media, personally and for my previous jobs.I have just begun working in InDesign, creating flyers and other such marketing material.<\/span><\/p>\n
