Life really is a faith walk.<\/p>\n<p><strong>May &amp; June Meetings:<\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Arctic Alliance: <\/span>5\/2\/ \u00a0&#8211; adjourned for summer<br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">City Council Mtg.:<\/span> 5\/21<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><br \/>\nFairbanks Chamber:<\/span>\u2028 5\/15\/\u2028(I dropped Chamber for writing lately)<br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">FHHC<\/span> (Fairbanks Homeless &amp; Housing Coalition)\u2013 5\/24 &amp; 6\/21<br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Youth Focus Group<\/span>: is a committee of the FHHC &amp; I chair this. We are getting ready for an outreach at the Angry Young and Poor event.<br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Fairbanks Rescue Mission:<\/span> The Vista\u2019s and I attend weekly staff meetings at FRM and then have our own \u2018staff meeting\u2019 as well. Rodney &amp; I meet every Tuesday.<br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Family to Family:<\/span> (OCS) 5\/16\/ we\u2019ve adjourned for summer.<br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Serve Alaska:<\/span> Community Discussion on how volunteers can impact a community 6\/19\/<br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Brown Bag Quarterly for Professionals Working with Youth:<\/span> 6\/27<\/p>\n<p><strong>Contacts:<\/strong>\u00a0<em>Personal meetings with key people<\/em>\u00a0<em>&amp; agencies<\/em>\u2028 &#8211; this is really about building relationship with people who we&#8217;ll be working with for the long haul.<\/p>\n<p>1) Tabor Rehbaum, E.D. of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Alaska. We discussed their mentorship program and setting our future clients up with Bigs.<br \/>\n2) Fairbanks Counseling &amp; Adoption\u2019s ED and Street Outreach folks were inquiring about the availability of shelter for their youth.<br \/>\n3) Montie Ford from Family Centered Services of Alaska, we discussed positions and organizational structure.<br \/>\n4) Luke Burton (InnerCHANGE) and I met over skype twice \u2013 discussing missionaries as house parents.<br \/>\n5) Angie Hufford : Safe Families \u2013 an option for host homes<br \/>\n6) I have contacted Chief of Police Zager, Senator Lisa Murkowski\u2019s special assistant, and North Pole mayor, Doug Isaacson \u2013 and will be talking with all of them soon.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Trainings:<\/strong><br \/>\n1) Basic Center Program Webinar with MANY, Mid Atlantic Network for Youth\u00a0 ($45.00)<br \/>\n2) Safe Place Webinar &amp;\u00a0 Training: Sarah went on our behalf<br \/>\n3) Trauma Informed Care<br \/>\n4) Family Intervention: Building Relationships and Increasing Stability for Runaway and Homeless Youth<br \/>\n5) RESPECT: Communication Skills<br \/>\n6) Leadership training at Fairbanks Rescue Mission.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Donations &amp; Fundraising<\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">May:<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0 $970.00 from 6 different people, 4 of whom we did not know + $362.83 (Bramer kids &#8211; National Lemonade Day) + $260. Walk for Charity<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">June:<\/span> \u00a0$315.00 total, from 3 individuals in memory of Gene Shafer, + from 2 new donors<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Other Items donated:<\/span><br \/>\nPolar Fleece Blankets from Randy Smith Students<br \/>\n2 washers, 2 dryers, large copier and smaller desk top<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other Topics:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Vistas: <\/em>Meagan\u2019s first day was 5\/7. The activities in her VAD are:<br \/>\nActivity 1: Create Sustainable Summer Awareness Campaign<br \/>\nActivity 2: In-Kind Resource Development<br \/>\nActivity 3: Establish Youth Awareness Newsletter and Mailing Database<\/p>\n<p><em>Coordinated Community Meeting:<\/em> in light that we need shelter for youth \u2013 but it will not be happening this winter, I would like to use this opportunity to bring in all the agencies and public who is interested in this conversation\u00a0 &#8211; for the purposes of coming up with a fall back plan during the winter. I see this as an opportunity to strengthen our community ties and to pull the community together to solve this community problem. Alan Corrick, pastor at DOH and known personally to many of these organizations will facilitate this meeting. (July 13, 3:00 at FRM)<\/p>\n<p><em>Newsletter:<\/em><br \/>\nMay 12<sup>th<\/sup> one went out to all,<br \/>\nJune 22\u00a0 &#8211; to all partner agencies \u2013 to update them about the set back in construction dates<\/p>\n<p><em>Grants:<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Alaska Mental Health Trust Grant: <\/em>I submitted this, $10,000 for mediation and family counseling services for clients of The Door who cannot pay. They changed the due date to 9\/1. I contacted them and told them that our construction date had changed \u2013 but they said no worries.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>BHAP &amp; ESG: <\/em>is potentially forfeited due to the change in construction. I contacted AHFC and need to notify them officially. As per our conversation, I have written a letter requesting the salary for the Program Director and why. In a follow up call &#8211; It does not sound promising.<em><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>BCP: <\/em>\u00a0Because of the Basic Center Program grant application I have been working on many different fronts. In order to complete it \u2013 one has to work on budgets, business plan, organizational flow chart, MOAs, policies, etc. So a great deal of work has been getting done. We will continue to work on this so that next year we will be ready for it and not have to pour so much time into it.<\/p>\n<p><em>Visitor Industry Charity Walk: <\/em>We made nearly $300.00 without even trying. We could make more next year with a little effort???<\/p>\n<p><em>Storage Unit: <\/em>3 AmeriCorps members helped us move our items out of an unsecured trailer \u2013 to a secure storage 6\/13.\u00a0A big thanks to Danny and truck to head up moving.<\/p>\n<p><em>Logo &amp; Stationary:<\/em>\u00a0 We paid Damian $150.00 and a $25.00 Amazon gift certificate. We ordered some stationary and cards with our logo.<\/p>\n<p><em>Mail Chimp:<\/em> Our next newsletter will come out both via email and mail chimp. We only have 29 folks who have signed up to receive our newsletter using mail chimp.
